Le Canot Rouge

The Big Wild

The Big Wild

The image of a red canoe will forever return me back to my home, my roots, my centre: Algonquin Park, which sits on the Quebec border in Ontario, Canada. 7653.45 km2 (2955.01 sq mi) in size with over 2400 lakes and more than 1200 kms of streams and rivers (745.65 mi) within its boundaries, it is a big place both geographically and in its beauty and wildness. And the canoe is one of the best ways to traverse it.

While Algonquin Park is this special spot that completely inspires me, I hope my little drawings foster the connection you have with your special places and experiences, wherever and whatever those may be.

Speaking of The Big Wild, we work hard to be environmentally supportive. Le Canot Rouge prints exclusively on process chlorine-free, Forest Stewardship Council-certified, 100% post-consumer recycled fibre paper because, thank you Marshall McLuhan, the medium IS the message. The paper manufacturer purchases enough Green-e certified Renewable Energy Certificates to match 100% of the electricity used in its operations. The ribbon used on Le Canot Rouge gift cards is 100% natural linen, both environmentally sound and visually appealing.

Some of our retailers prefer to present the cards in protective cellos. We've chosen to offer the most ecologically benign that we could find. They are made from wood cellulose fibres sourced via sustainable forestry principles and are certified biodegradable, compostable (in your backyard composter!), and made carbon zero. Yay!
